Set during the summer on a remote island in Maine, this novel centers on the life-changing adventures of Josh, a twelve-year-old with dyslexia. At first, he feels trapped on the island with his teasing older brother and his critical grandfather. Josh's grandmother seems to be his only friend, but she really can't make things better for him. As the weeks go by, he grows used to island life and discovers interests and talents he never realized he had. The dramatic conclusion provides Josh with a final triumph that makes him and his family proud.
